    The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning models on learning achievement viewed from the logical mathematical intelligence of the students. The learning models compared were the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type modified with Quantum Learning and scientific approach, Think Pair Share (TPS) type with Quantum Learning and scientific approach, and classical model with scientific approach. The type of this study was a quasi-experimental research with a 3×3 factorial design. The population was all of students on grade VIII of Junior High Schools in Magelang Regency in academic year 2014/2015. The data was analyzed by using two way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. Based on the hypothesis, the results of the study could be summarized as follows. (1) NHT-Quantum Learning gave better achievement than TPS-Quantum Learning and classical model, TPS-Quantum Learning had same achievement as classical model. (2) Students with high logical mathematical intelligence gave better achievement than middle and low logical mathematical intelligence, students who had middle logical mathematical intelligence gave better achievement than those who had low logical mathematical intelligence. (3) In each category of the logical mathematical intelligence, NHT-Quantum Learning gave better achievement than TPS-Quantum Learning and classical model, TPS-Quantum Learning had same achievement as classical model. (4) In each of the learning models, the students who had high logical mathematical intelligence got better achievement than middle and low logical mathematical intelligence, the students who had middle logical mathematical intelligence got better achievement than those who had low logical mathematical intelligence

    This study aimed at describing the process of creative thinking of the eight grade students of MTs NW Suralaga East Lombok in the academic year of 2013/2014, who had personality type based on the Myer-Briggs personality dimensions, namely rational personality type (STR) and guardian personality type (STG) in the mathematics problems solving on Wallas steps, namely preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. The approach used descriptive qualitative approach in a case study. The data collection technique was conducted by using task based interview. The result showed that the procces of creative thingking on: (1) the STR students, namely: (a) the preparation, the students read APS (assignment problem solving) silently, observed the instructions and information carefully, and mentioned the known and the asked things in reading once APS; (b) incubation, the students tend to be silent for a moment, the students do a contemplation activities, planned the problem solving, and took a long time to bring up the idea; (c) illumination, the students started by identifying the contained information in the APS, wrote how to solve the problem and continued by explaining the procedure of problem solving, the students established the steps to resolve the problem and got the idea by developing the idea of the previous answers; (d) verification, the students expressed orally the re-examination procedure of the answer, wrote the re-examination procedure, explained the re-examination procedure and explained the procedure again orally. (2) The STG students, namely: (a) the preparation, the students read the APS silently, and in a loud voice, mentioned the current issues in the APS, wrote the problems on the answer sheet, mentioned the known and the asked things of APS after a given follow-up questions; (b) incubation, the students tend to be silent, the students do a contemplation activities and arranged the plan of problem-solving when they were calm; (c) illumination, the students identified the information on APS and determined the attributes that were used to solve the problem, established the steps to resolve the problem, described the problem solving procedures, solved the problems by developing the idea from the previous idea; (d) verification, the students revealed and explained the re-examine procedure of the answer orally, wrote the re-examination procedure of the answer, observed and re-checked the problem solving that had been done

    The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of learning model toward learning outcomes in mathematics viewed from the reasoning ability. The learning models of this research were cooperative learning model of the GI with scientific, the cooperative learning model of the TPS with scientific, and the classical learning with scientific.This research used the quasi experimental research method with the factorial design of 3 x 3. Its population was all of the students in Grade VIII of State Junior Secondary Schools of Karanganyar. The samples of the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The samples consisted of 280 students. The instruments used to gather the data were test of learning outcomes in mathematics and test of reasoning ability. The proposed hypotheses of the research were tested by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research were as follows. 1) The students instructed with GI with scientific had a better learning outcomes in mathematics than those instructed TPS with scientific and those instructed the classical learning with scientific. Furthermore, the students instructed TPS with scientific had a better learning outcomes in mathematics than those instructed the classical learning model with scientific. 2) The learning outcomes in mathematics of the students with the high and moderate reasoning ability had a better than that of the students with the low reasoning ability. In addition, the students with the high reasoning ability had the same learning outcomes in mathematics as the students with the moderate reasoning ability. 3) On model of the GI with scientific, the students with the high and low reasoning ability had the same learning outcomes in mathematics as the students with the moderate reasoning ability. Moreover, the students with the high reasoning ability had a better learning outcomes in mathematics than those the students with the low reasoning ability. On model of the TPS with scientific and the classical learning with scientific results in the same learning outcomes in each of reasoning ability. 4) The students with the high reasoning ability, GI with scientific and the classical learning with scientific results in the same learning outcomes in mathematics as TPS with scientific. Furthermore, GI with scientific results in a better learning outcomes in mathematics than the classical learning with scientific. The students with the moderate and low reasoning ability had the same learning outcomes in each of learning model

    The purpose of this study is to describe the process of reflective thinking in solving the problem of high school students on the material terms of the derivative function viewed from self-efficacy. This research is classified in the qualitative descriptive study with the case study method. The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA SMAN I Punung Pacitan in the second semester of academic year 2014/2015. The determination of the subject is by using purposive sampling, which is based on high, medium, and low self-efficacy. The research data taken from the test results of student works and interviews of students. Test of the credibility of the data is done by time triangulation. The data analysis technique is qualitative descriptive by Miles and Huberman. The results showed that (1) students with high self-efficacy using reflective thinking processes in a) stages of understanding the problem, able to select science, believing the truth, and actively create a consideration of the chosen solution; b) planning phase troubleshooting, make certain considerations, believing the truth, and select science; c) the stage of implementing the plan problem solving, able to explain the problem solving, linking information obtained by the problems encountered, deliberation, aware of the error and correct it, believing the truth; d) phase re-examine, re-examine, capable of linking the knowledge, correcting the error, explaining the final conclusion. (2) students with moderate self-efficacy use reflective thinking process in a) understand the problem, believing the truth, actively make judgments, and able to select science; b) the stage of implementing the plan problem solving, able to explain the solution of the problem, select the science that has been owned, believing the truth of solving the problem (3) students with low self-efficacy only use reflective thinking process in understanding the problem by being active characteristics in making judgments, be sure it is a correct problem-solving solutions

    The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from the student self concept. The learning model compared were Think Pair Share, Numbered Heads Together dan Problem Based Learning with saintific approach (TPS-S, NHT-S and PBL-S). This research was a quasi experimental with the factorial design of 3×3. The population of this research was all of students in grade VII of State Islam Junior High Schools of Magetan regency in academic year 2014/2015. The samples of the research consisted of 243 students and were gathered through stratified cluster random sampling. The instruments consisted of the test of learning achievement and self concept questionnaire. Hypotheses testing was performed using two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. Based on the results of hypotheses testing, it was concluded as follows. 1) Students with the cooperative learning model of the TPS-S, NHT-S and PBL-S learning model had the same mathematics achievement. 2) Students with high self concept had better mathematics achievement than students with medium and low self concept, students with medium self concept and low self concept have the same mathematics achievement. 3a) On the TPS-S learning model, students with high self concept had better mathematics achievement than students with low self concept, students with high self concept and medium self concept have the same mathematics achievement, students with medium self concept and low self concept have the same mathematics achievement. 3b) On the NHT-S and the PBL-S learning models, students mathematics achievement on each self concept categories had the same mathematics achievement. 4) On the each students self concept categories, students achievement on each learning model types had the same mathematics achievement

    The purposes of the research were to determine the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from students mind style. The learning model compared were TTW (Think Talk Write), TPS (Think Pair Share) and conventional. The kind of research was a quasi experimental research. The population was the students of Junior high school in Pringsewu regency on academic year 2013/2014. The size of the sample was 286 students, consisted of 98 students in the first experimental group, 105 students in second experimental group and 84 students in control group. The instruments used were mathematics achievement test and questionnaire. Hypothesis analysis test used two ways analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The conclusions were as follow. (1) TTW model gave the same effect as TPS, but TTW model was better than conventional and TPS model gave the same effect as conventional. (2) For all types of students mind style gave the same effect for mathematics learning achievement of students. (3) In each model of learning, students with mind style types concrete sequential, abstract sequential, concrete random, or abstract random have the same effect for mathematics learning achievement. (4) In each mind style, TTW model gave the same effect as TPS, but TTW model was better than conventional and TPS model gave the same effect as conventional

    The objective of this research is to describe the mindset of Mathematics teachers in planning and implementation of learning process of a basic competency in Grade VII of State Junior High School 1 of Karanganyar. This research used the qualitative approach with the case study. The subjects of research were Mathematics teachers in Grade VII of State Junior High School 1 of Karanganyar, an experienced Mathematics teacher and a young Mathematics teacher. The data of research were collected through documentation, interview, and observation, and validated by using the source triangulation. The data that did not match were used as other findings. The data were analyzed by using the technique of data analysis from Miles and Huberman, by reducing the data, displaying the data, and drawing the conclusion. The results of this research are the mindset of teachers in the planning of the learning process begins with determining the basic competencies of each Core Competencies by examining the syllabus and describing it into indicators of competency achievement through School's Subject Teachers Forum, designing learning objectives, determining learning materials, and determining learning activities with scientific approaches. The designing of the assessment tools begins with describing the basic competencies of each core competency into indicator of competency achievement, determining assessment technique, and designing assessment tools. The mindset of teachers in implementation of the learning process refers to the Lesson Plan. It is shown by the use of scientific approaches, various learning methods that emphasize on the student-centered learning and authentic assessment

    The purposes of this study were to determine: (1) which gives better learning achievement, NHT-PI type, the type of TAI, or direct instruction learning model (2) which is learning achievement better, students who have a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learning style (3) In each type of learning model, which better learning achievement, students who have a visual learning style, auditory or kinesthetic (4) In each learning style, which is learning achievement better, students who applied learning models NHT-PI, TAI, or direct instruction learning. This study was a quasi exsperimental research. The sample of research consisted of 280 students: 90 students in experiment 1 class, 90 students in experiment 2 class, and 100 students in control class. The data was taken from the result of mathematics learning achievement test and student learning style questionnaire. The data obtained was then analyzed using a two-way ANAVA with unbalanced cells. Considering the result of hypothesis testing, the following conclusions could be drawn. (1) The learning achievement of the students treated with NHT-PI type of learning model was better than that of those treated with TAI type and direct learning; that of those treated with TAI was same as that of those treated with direct learning. (2) The learning style did not provide significant difference in learning achievement. (2) Either in NHT-PI and TAI types of cooperative learning model or in direct learning, the different learning style did not provide significantly different learning achievement. (4) In the students with visual learning style, the three learning models did not provide significantly different learning achievement; in the students with auditory learning style, NHT-PI was as good as the TAI types, the TAI type was a good as the direct learning, and NHT-PI was better than the direct learning; in the students with kinesthetic learning style, the three learning model had equal effectiveness
